Match Report
Ipswich School Girls-U13C vs  Orwell Park School
On: Saturday, 15 Sep 2018
Venue: Away

The U13C girls hockey team arrived at Orwell Park on Saturday 15th September ready and excited to play their first game of the season. Having only had two games sessions before their first match the brand new team had two focus points: to consider using the whole of the pitch during carrying and passing, ensuring we include height, width and depth and secondly to have fun – we all did! Mia Douglas providing great strength at centre back and created lots of pressure on the ball making great tackles from the start of the match. Heidi Marsh and Phoebe Venables were excellent at carrying the ball towards goal, so much so that Heidi was given player of the match by Orwell Park after proving herself as a very versatile player. After the first half, our opposition were in the lead: 0-1. The second half of the match saw Bo Holburn save some amazing goals, diving to an immense tackle with her stick, fighting to stop the opposition scoring. Despite the final score, Orwell Park 3 - Ipswich School 0, as the match continued Ipswich School became more confident and the quality of hockey got better. I am hugely proud of the energy and enthusiasm that each player gave throughout the match and with it being so early on in the season, I am excited about working towards our next match in the coming games sessions.
