Match Report
Ipswich School Girls-U12A vs  Ipswich High School
On: Monday, 24 Sep 2018
Venue: at Home

Time given to prepare for this fixture was certainly not wasted and the squad focused on their defence, short corners and attacking options. What followed was a high tempo match where an attacking mindset was encouraged upon the firm foundations of a strong defensive structure. Eliza Goodwyn had a superb match in defence but her overlapping runs, distribution and goal scoring threat were outstanding. Amie Hunt (Captain ) provided the control required to dominate the game with her exceptional passing, ball carry and powerful shooting. A strong performance from Madeleine Weaver in defence and the midfield four of Emily Pettit, Tilly Ormes, Libby Baker and Emily Calver kept their structure and desire to penetrate too. The forward line of Ishani Soni and Hannah Childs positioned themselves perfectly in the D and created space for the midfield to flow into higher areas of the pitch. It is of no surprise that the 17-0 scoreline assumes that Issy Smith in goal had a very quiet day but the Ipswich High team never gave up, battled hard but faced an Ipswich School side that were on very good form. Many thanks to Sophie Childs for assisting the team and the many parents that came to support. It was also great to see OI Jamie Goodwyn pitch side supporting his sister before he travels to Durham for his next adventure. I wonder what these young ladies would have achieved with their hockey by the time they reach Jamie's age?
