Match Report
Ipswich School Girls-U15A vs  Bedford Girls' School
On: Wednesday, 12 Sep 2018
Venue: at Home

The 15 As started their session with a cup fixture against Bedford Girls after just two training sessions.

The start of the game neither team could gain control of the ball and it was end to end. We were using our pace to get round the back of the Bedford defence but the Bedford keeper made some good saves to deny us an early goal. Mary and Maddy started to gain more control in the middle of the park. This allowed us to move the ball so that Anna and Esmae could use their pace on the wing. They linked up well with Harriet and Willow.

The ball was won in midfield and transferred onto the right were Anna could attack the Bedford defence. The ball was passed across the D and Esmae got a touch just in front of the keeper to put us 1-0 up.

The confidence was high now in the Ipswich camp. Mary and Maddy were dominating the middle of the park and carrying well into space and opening up the Bedford defence linking well with the forwards.

We were creating more chances as the half went on and after a good piece of attacking play Harriet tucked away the 2nd goal to make it 2-0 at half time.

After the team talk the girls knew what they had to do to keep the lead and push on. They kept moving the ball but as fatigue started to kick in the girls were getting tired and the game started to open up. Bedford were able to get the ball to their forward who was one on one with Jasmine but an excellent save kept it at 2-0.

With Bedford getting into the game the defenders were being called on more and more. The solid centre back partnership of Megan and Verity was stopping any threats from the attacking Bedford side. Even though we were tiring the work rate was second to none.

The game finished 2-0 with the girls excited to see who we face in Round 2!
