Match Report
Ipswich School Girls 1st XI vs  Framlingham College
On: Saturday, 22 Sep 2018
Venue: at Home

The First XI Girl’s faced Framlingham and Norwich in what was to be a competitive triangular. The girls fought hard against Fram, pressing aggressively early in the match which created some good attacking opportunities. Ipswich went into half time 1-0 with Abby Phillips making some key saves in her debut match as goal keeper, form she continued throughout the day.

Fram came out aggressively in the second half and put the girls under a lot of pressure, creating numerous attacks. Some solid deep defending created some strong counter break opportunities for Ipswich that they weren’t able to convert. The game finished at 3-0 to Fram however Ipswich showed some really positive signs. With time off to evaluate the performance, the girls had learnt a lot, grown in confidence and were ready to go into game two against Norwich who had just drawn with Fram 0-0.

Some solid improvements in the press saw numerous counter break opportunities as the girls worked hard to win the ball off Norwich. Catherine Levick was pivotal in these opportunities, breaking fast and opening up the opposition defence.

Abby Phillips was again called on in the second half and mad some big saves which kept the game tight. Both teams had their share of opportunities but neither were able to break the deadlock. Evie Duley worked tirelessly in the midfield and backline players started to shift the ball well with a number of excellent transfer plays that linked up with the midfield.

Unfortunately Ipswich conceded with just 3 minutes to play and couldn’t make the most of their attacking opportunities. Whilst frustrated with the final score, a day of strong performances and lots of learning puts the group in a strong position going forwards.
