Hockey: 2nd Xl Girls Triangular against Framingham College and Norwich School

The 2Xl girls played against Framingham College in the first of two home match this weekend. They were slow to start the first half and where put on the back foot after conceding 3 very early goals. The first half finished 5-0 with Framingham been very clinical in the circle. At half time to team realised they were not playing to their full potential and to standard they know they can play so they railed together to regain some dominance in the second half. Ipswich improve their pressing shape and defensive discipline making it far easier for them to regain possession and to counter attack quickly.

The Girls worked extremely hard in the second half but just could not get the final touch past the Framingham goal keepers who were on form. The game finished 7-0 but the Ipswich girls were far more pleased with their second half performance and took that development into the start of the Norwich match.

The girls started brightly against Norwich and create some good goal scoring opportunities but once again was denied by a inform goal keeper and lacked that final touch. At half time the team where 2-0 down but still positive with the hockey performance they were putting in. In midfield Boo Phillips had a stand out performance and really put the Norwich players under pressure and gave them no time on the ball. Jemmia Tarlenton also had a fantastic first match for the 2nd XI playing at screen and full back braking down Norwich’s attack with ease but this was just not enough to hold Norwich at 2-0 and game finished 4-0.

Their next match is against Stanford at home on 29th September.
