Match Report
Ipswich School Girls-U15A vs  Kingston Grammar School
On: Thursday, 17 Jan 2019
Venue: Away

The Girls traveled to Surbition Hockey Club for a fixture against a very strong Kingston side.

The girls were prepped and ready to go and started well dominating the start of the game but were denied by a very solid Kingston defence. Kingston started to create chances but were denied by some excellent saves from Jasmine.

Our forwards started to stretch the pitch and create the space for our midfield to exploit, with Maddie and Mary dominating the middle of the park. They then started to link well with Sophie and Charlotte.

Half time came and we were on the front foot.

The second half started and the game was end to end with both teams created chances but were denied by some great defending. Kingston went 1-0 up but nothing changed. The girls carried on playing with courage and desire. We started getting closer to the Kingston D and a ball was played in and was finished from close range from Mary.

Full Time 1-1

It went to extra time, after the first 5 there wasn't much in it. The second 5 minutes started with both teams created chances but Kingston took theirs late in the half to make it 2-1. The girls tried everything to try and equalise but couldn't.

The girls gave everything but it finished 2-1. The girls came off exhausted but couldn't do anything more. In reflection the girls were happy with how they played, it was a great advert for girls hockey and the best hockey they have played! It was an emotional ending to a fantastic run in the cup.
